Immi,

Hope you got some rest while 3DP was down! Let's celebrate the resurrection of 3D Palette by throwing a competition!

I have about $1600 in prizes on hand that we could give away. One copy of Deep Paint 3D, One copy of trueSpace 4.3, and one copy of ShaderPack for trueSpace.

Let's get it on! Whaddya think?

Eric

aaaagh. contests...such fun, but what a headache. how bout u handle the headache part, and i'll handle the fun part?

Seriously though, yeah, sounds like a good idea, although we should try dig up some prizes that will appeal to the 2d crowd. Painter, tablets, loomis books etc. I dunno.

I'm at school right now, i'll email u in a couple of hours when im done.

Immi,

Which are the fun parts and which are the headache parts? LOL!

You probably have more contacts in the 2D industry then I do but we can discuss all the details later. Maybe we can bring in the other sites you mentioned? Have a blow out!

As long as you split the results of those bribes with me I have no problem with that :-) Seriously though... if you aren't up to it right now just say so and we can wait till you get everything back up and running again. I don't want to do it half assed.

nah, nah, i want to do it. but maybe not right away. It'd be great if we could aim to have something where the prizes are awarded near christmas. that'd be cool. Um, how about we work out the details in the next 2/3 weeks, launch the contest mid-late November, and award the prizes a few days before christmas. that should give us ample time.

and stop posting! i'm supposed to be learning flash! actually, keep posting...more interesting than the lesson.

anyway, how about some suggestions the rest of you guys? themes/ideas/prizes etc etc.

I think everyone would agree, free stuff's good stuff, begger's can't be choosers and all that. Tablet's and copy's of Painter sound great, I don't have either and I'm sure there are a few of us out there. I think you mentioned in an earlier post somewhere about subscribtions etc, it all sounds good.
Themes ... hmmm ... we could try drawing the end of a sentence or something maybe. e.g. Just as she brushed the hair out of her eyes there came ...
ok, pretty corny I know. Just a suggestion.
Thanks for all that you're doing guys

Immi said in an earlier post that 3D Palette and some other sites were possibly going to hold one large competition.

ah, come on, something with a bit more taste would be good. It's nice to draw girls, but for a contest like this, then it would all just matter who can copy a playboy picture as realistic and with wet skin as possible. boring topic for a compo, I think.

Think about this ... a theme revolving around a poem ? A theory ? It would be difficult to control artistic interpretations of physical concepts, but it's worth a thought, eh ?

Like n8 said, it will be around Christmas so how about a Christmas theme. Painting the days of Christmas (eg), I don't know the poem, but I'm sure you could twist it into something, 10 wild mutant geese ripping Santa apart ... or did South Park already do this
And a happening guy like Santa is bound to pull the chicks, so that outta keep the masses happy. A couple of Santa groupies in the background somewhere

A list of suggestions:

* a cyborg
* interpretation of a song
* "fairy tale"
* neo tokyo scene
* design a new insect
* underwater scene
* a non-human civilization
* interpretation of the word "morph"

I just woke up, these ideas aren't all that great. But being a girl, I'd rather not have my first project here be some sexy chick

May some of the ideas people have listed here could be "draw club" assignments as well
