...if someone looking for the FAQ can't find it, how likely is it that a total newbie who doesn't even know such a thing exists would stumble upon it?
Maybe the FAQ should be an obligatory read before you could become a member... |

affected's right, i was thinking about this earlier. maybe put a faq link on the forums intro page, right below random musings. use bold red letters to make sure people see it  |

Like an EULA. A full ten pages of text and in the end a checkbox 'I've read the FAQ and will not ask questions answered in the FAQ in the forum', then the Sign Up button.
