the usual stuff I shovel, you might have heard of it, it comes around whenever horses are walking about. And regarding my crappiness, I need a good book on sketching to see if i can do any better than this /^\

That's a pretty good start Loukus, it gives you a good Idea of where you want to head. What I'd do now is some research. Try to find some reference for how his cloak should drape over him, and how the folds should lie. If you have trouble finding good reference, you could even drape a towel or sheet over something with a simular shape (a chair back with a ball for the head form?). I think you'll find the difference amazing.
The other thing I might suggest is play with the lighting, maybe having most of the form very dark grey to black would be appropriate, with some harsh lighting from the side to show form.
Here's my reaper pic - It's way old, an early acrylic from my high school days, but I had the scan on system anyway.
