On the whole, they look darn good. Personally, I would have swapped first and second around, merely due to the unnatural warping of some of the chain mail on Sauron (I'm picky ). The light on the metal surfaces is fantastic, but I think that's as much from the 3-D program as the artist. The portrait of Sauron is pretty darn good otherwise - although I think Sauron is one of those characters whose face should never be seen clearly to make him more intimidating, like Stranger from the game Nocturne.

Most of the choices look fairly good, although there's a lot of 3D art there. That's not bad, of course, it's just a different form of art. It's hard to judge between 2D and 3D art on the whole, as they're both so different, and require different skill sets and abilities. Maybe, for future competitions, it's worth having a seperate section for 2D and 3D art?

Anyway, that's just my 2p

BTW, I saw Monsta there Rinaldo - congrats. You've done a great job, I love the background.

Boo hiss, I didn't win. Just joking. Congrats to all! I wouldn't agree with seperate 2d and 3d unless we got way more people in. After all, there would only be like 3 entries in the 2d on.

The main reason there were so many 3D entries is because only a few 2D images were submitted :-) I was actually expecting more but it didn't happen.

Congratulations Rinaldo! (Sometimes I can't put peoples online personas to their real names.)

Just wanted to let you all know that we are now accepting entries for November's comp "Heaven and Hell." We also have two new sponsors:

X Dimension (http://www.xdsoft.com) is donating 10 copies of 3D Exploration to the top ten finalists.

Electric Rain (http://www.erain.com) is donating one copy of Swift 3D (Flash program) to the winner.

Also remember that we are allowing 2D artists to work from scans.

Thank you Immi for posting the news of the winners at 3DP! When are we going to hook up that joint comp?!?

Thank you all for listening and I had better see some more work come from this community! You guys are GREAT artists!

Eric
