Hey everybody.
This is an image i've been working on the past few nights. It's still a rough pic and on the verge of being detailed, but that's because i dont know what steps to take next. I really tried to make every brushtroke meaningful and throughout the process i made sure the picture kept the same impact zoomed out as it did zoomed in. SO, i'm looking for some good critiques! draw on the image, show me what you think would make this a stronger picture. comments and critiques are very welcome!

thats really beautiful.
I would change the sky to a less saturated blue (or an entirely different color -red/orange?) and check the anatomy of the horse (especially the head) but maybe thats personal taste.
cool work. |

I agree with the checking the horse anatomy, the girl looks good and the background & the tree has very beautiful colors.
.. love the tree.

Nice brushstrokes! I really like the way you used different brushes. You rendered the tree, the girls face and her dress pretty well.
I agree with Gecko, the sky is way too saturated.
And the composition seems a bit unbalanced to me. The seems to be too much detail put in the tree in comparison with the rest of the painting, I know its an unfinished pic but take this into account .
I also think the sahdow is too dark...
Think about were the light is coming from, too.
Keep up the good work, and itl look great!

The strokes looks wonderful and the colours too I like the subtle purple shadow.
Very interresting.

thanks guys. i admit (i guess it was quite obvious) that i didnt take the time to study the mechanics of a horse. i'm probably just going to leave this one alone for now. i think if i begin perfecting things, it's just going to lose a lot of whatever good is in there right now.
about the saturation.. maybe i'm strange, but as strong as that sky is, i felt it did the piece good from a compositional standpoint. i'm not very educated with this stuff.. but i thought it 'worked' :\
i'm still open for more thoughts! i can only learn from them. |
