By any chance would anyone know where I can get scanned online andrew loomis books? I would be really cool to be able to learn from him. Also since I don't have 280 dollars to feed myself, I don't have 280 dollars to spend on a book. I don't see why I should suffer anymore. Do it for your country. |

The fact is man, you're probably not going to find the whole book on the net. See, not only does uploading the book take a whole load of time, its also illegal. Now, most people don't take offense at a few pages being shown since usually its just to illustrate a point. Like, when most people photocopy something, they just photocopy a few pages, not the whole freaking book. Anyways, you're not going to find it, but heres a few pages from the book:

Not sure if there's a specific Loomis book you're looking for, but www.budplant.com has a set of two Andrew Loomis drawing books for $13.95
I have them both. They're only about 30 pages each, but certainly worth the price.
I also have his original, "Figure Drawing: For All It's Worth" from 1943 (which is a bit more difficult to find). The pair from budplant is a subset of that book.

Correct me if I'm wrong..
Last time I checked, it was impossible to find any of Loomis' books of recent print.
I doubt highly that anyone would take offense to having his great work posted online. Least of all Loomis himself.
He was dedicated to having people learn to draw and have fun in the process.
What greater honor/pleasure than to have his hard work available to all - than to a few select individuals who have loads of money to spend on ancient prints?
I could understand the argument that it would be illegal / immoral if, for example, his heirs were making money off the sale of his books.
But they aren't. If they were, wouldn't new reprints of the books be available at well stocked bookshops?
Don't get me wrong immi, I agree that ripping off people is wrong.
But in this case, I don't believe anyone would come to harm or be acting immorally from posting these books online. Quite the contrary.
Just my 5 cents. |

Yeah I agree. If someone put in the time to scan it all, I think a lot of people could benefit from it too.

When did he die? I believe there's a 70year limit to the copyright law after death. If it's been about that long, I'll scan all 204 pages once my copy arrives in a week or two.

Theres something I dont understand. Everybodys saying those Loomis books are great(spooge, Fred etc), so why arent they reprinted? Theres lots of new artist who would buy them.
Does anybody now? |
