I plan on doing more of these and posting them as I get them done, hopefully one every few nights. I love the lighting and the atmosphere in this movie and want to study some of the scenes to try and recreate those effects.
I have a DVD player, so I can get a clear picture to paint from. Took about an hour.

NICE! i'm an atmosphere nut and you've got it down pat! the clouds look pretty good. Isn't it weird how you can tell the difference between the male and female with just a faint outline? |

beautiful. I really like it and I know the scene from the movie. Maybe it could be improved a little if the mountains had a tiny bit more detail.

Hehe, I think it's pretty looking. I always did like that "dark silhouette in the foreground, beautifull warm colors in the background" style. Actually, who came up with that idea first?

Thanks for all the positive replies. I'm going to work on another one today.
Anyone who likes moody, atmospheric pieces like this should look up an old German artist named Caspar David Friedrich. His paintings are beautiful and moving. Here's a site where you can research his stuff... http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/friedrich_caspar_david.html |
