OK, any matte painters out there, this is my first one. I definately need some help on values. I haven't textured the wood in the fort yet, since I want to get the values right first. Any thoughts very welcome,

Thanks again,

oh whow great work on that spooge!

Anthony: your fort looks pretty good too-maybe you should work more on lighting here that texture?

The water seems to be the hardest part here.

Spooge: Wow. Just, WOW. (some above water tree masses aren't relfected, but, you probably did that in 25 minutes and such...(sigh) ) That water looks very cold.. brr! (damn you're good, and I'm not just saying that to suck up) (who's that guy in the water in front of the castle?)

Anthony: You might want to be more precise and careful when creating reflections, it doesn't take much to lose the effects of reality in those cases. Notice how dark the underside of the bushes are, it gives you an idea of the amount of light there is without all that sky and top-down bounce light... your logs seem to lack some of that darkness. (at least, from what I can see...)

Thanks very much all of ya! Spooge-don't worry about typing, your pic speaks volumes. Albert Schweitzer learned to write with his other hand because his cat slept on his main hand. Frost: I decided to just use the image as a reflection-it's not perfectly accurate, and it's not painting, but matte painting is just about the finished project eh? Here's an update, total time 50 minutes so far.

Sorry 'bout that. Thought everyone ran at at least 12x96 I updated the second one with a 640x480 version. One thing about the image-I took the original yesterday on the Wekiva river(beautiful river btw), and the sky wasn't really reflecting that much as you got closer to yourself.

anthony, in pShop just save a copy @ a different size... maybe save fro web and tell it 640 x 480 maybe...then we i can see the whole pic in the browser window on my powerbook..... (hehe, uh, could you please adjust your work so that it is more comfortable for me to look at? hehe ) its pretty easy, and makes the file load faster and what not... you have a nice start. spooge, yours is okay also...hehe. pretty fun though.
