Go study women, seriosly, just don't be a stalker or sumthing. I mean, you have reference ALL around you. Study how they walk, move ect. Also, just don't concentrate on boobs as the main diff between men and woman (and other things :P ), but really study.

If you have a gf, go study her..hehe, i'm sure you'll both appreciate that lesson

WOW!!! This is my longest created post EVER!! cool...and alot of interesting reading. I would however liked it if the local gurus (Micke, Vebjorn, Sijhin..and anyone else)...would say theire thoughts on it. Vebjorn is a VERY good female drawer..maybe he can tell us his secret.

I personally like drawing women. Drawing men can be quite fun and challenging also, like when muscles, veins and the extra details are added in. But when I draw males I tend to use lots of sketch markings. With women, however, I usually use a few well placed solid strokes to show the smoother, more delicate figure. I draw women a lot.. especially their faces.. if I had a problem drawing people, it'd be children. Actually I can barely draw a legit looking child! I think since they don't tend to have a definate proportion ratio, its a lot harder to spin one off the top of my head(I'm guessing this is what you mean by drawing men or women better: imagining them better?). Then again I don't draw many children.

Off topic, does anyone know where I can find some good coloring techniques to use. Like the effects of the light on colors, what are warm and cool colors and what they are used for. Hehe please excuse my ignorance, I just haven't taken any art classes here. Thanks in advance. Please email me at [email protected] if you guys have any Info.

Great thread! Just thought I'd post my two cents to this one. I can't really add too much to it that hasn't already been said. I think most of the posts are right on the money. I'd like to post a Theory on basic "drawing" in the future and how I think it relates to "seeing", which to me seems to be the key to how quickly and how well you progress as an artist. Keep in mind, I'll be spouting personal observations rather than text book stuff. I hope that might be useful. However, that has to wait until my deadlines let up a bit. Actually, quite a bit, since I want to start doing some more finished pieces first. Argh.

Anyways, funny sidenote, about how artists' drawings resemble themselves. When I met Travis Charest http://travischarest.metropoli2000.com/, I was struck by the fact that he looks alot like the guys that he draws. Very odd.
