Btw if you really want the oilpainting feeling you should give the brushes in TwistedbrushPRO a try.

I think the rendering and colors of the first one is much better.
The only thing that is better on the second is the hand and the foot.
The blur on the second is not as intresting. |

I don't think that Anthonys overpainting makes it a better picture, sure it do becomes more real but for me that is not allways a better picture.

Other things you should do is selfportrait from a mirror, its very good practice.

Awesome , you could start working pro right away, it does not matter that your pictures are not so clear. Sometimes its better to not paint ever detail clear it makes the picture much mor ... |
