you can also set the colour picker to pick the value of a single pixel or the area around the pixel to a set radius. get the eye-dropper and right click if you want to try this out.

If you want the brush to fade off after the same distance with every stroke, set the Opacity control under 'Other Dynamics' to fade and pick a pixel count for the length of the stroke. Just play and ... |
