i agree. it appears that you used dodge and burn extensively in the picture.. while useful, sometimes it is better to achieve different values by hand-choosing them.

there are no eyes but i'm sure you noticed that images/smiles/icon_smile.gif ... if you are trying to maintain them in shadow, bring down the shadow a bit and make it less angular
