How about this? Just keep it simple. When rendering girls in the comic style you only need to hint things. Simple crosshatching will do. Hope it helps.

Taking a second look and reading Kuren's comment it made me realize something. The fact that the pic is not inked is the why it looks like it needs contrast. The pencil shadings are blending too much ...

Nice work, but I think it needs more contrast or brighter highlights. And I think the sky is too bright. Also the background behind Akiman's left hand is still in a flat color.
But anyway, I suck at c ...

I was just flipping through Brom's Darkwerks and saw one of his painting titled "gutsack" It was funny and the painting's cool, so it just stuck in my head.
