Photos can be good for learning about values, just keep in mind that even the best photos don't have much information about 3d form.

Really nice overall, but he does seem a little off balance. I find that it helps to start the drawing from the feet up in this kind of pose.

I think you should invest in the Bridgman book - it is pretty cheap and has a lot of the information you want.

One thing you should be aware of is features like a short nose that give a youthful appearance. It might be harder to get the effect you want if your subject looks cute.

you don't have a main light source. If you did it would really help define stuff.

Also there's sort of a perspective issue with the helmet. ALways think about where the eye is in relation to things ...

I think it's mostly the facial proportions.

I squished the bottom part of her face, so that nose and mouth are cloer together.

She still has thinner lips compared to her friends ( sign of aging )

You should try to complete alot of images, even if it means simplifying. That way you get good at the beginning stages of a picture.

It takes alot of practice. I don't think hands are particularly hard, but they do force you to use extreme foreshortening. Learn the bones of the hand. Do alot of gesture drawings.

The clavicle's a bit longer too; the front head of the shoulder muslce attaches to it, and it meets the shoulder blade.
