That's heavy shit, the background looks really nice. If the sun is meant as a sunrise I'd add more light. However if it's a sundown I'd add more red in the image.

By the way, why is the character sad ...

Looks really nice, this is a good start for the coloring. You can add more complexity later anywayz.
I like the mangaish style in it. Maybe an idea to put it on a background.

There was a post a while ago about drawing anime books... only thing I remember is that they were incredibly expensive... about 50 bucks or somemthing.

They often have them at you local comic store.

Looks a little bit like Lara Croft.
I'd say you use more red colors to give the skin a more realistic feel. It's too yellowish.

Also the eyes are a good start, give them more details.
