figured it out. it was one of the included acer programs that made it act funny. acer grid vista. glad to have solved that. thanks for the help guys, appreciate it

yep, my desktop has 2 gb. it's great.

and yep. i did try turning off hardware acceleration. still nothing. the cache level is on 8 now, but i've also tried different settings for it and still noth ...

i tried it on 2 different drives, the c drive (where it was installed) and the f drive, a separate drive. for the ram it's on 60%.
