Actually, you are doing well. Only tip I can give is to increase the contrast beween light and dark. The painting needs more highlights! Light and dark work great used against eachother.

Its looking great so far. You already have the essence of the painting on cancas. Now all you have to do is the tedious details if you wish e.g. the hair

I would have mentioned before hand I used photo reference for this image, but that would be stating the obvious wouldn't it mate?
