If you have Painter 7, just go into the program and choose Help > Tutorials.

Click on the one called "Creating Foliage". It's a great tutorial.. you should be able to get a lot of info out of it.

Yeah this is a great improvement over the original. I saw the sketch for the sub over at Lumental.
