What light are you taking the picture in? I know with my super-crappy camera, I have to take the pictures in full sunlight. Under normal house-hold light the colors simply won't show up at all.

First of all: black and white line art should be saved as a GIF, not a jpg. This not only *drastically* cuts down on the file size, but it also keeps the line art clean and free from those jaggy jpg ...

Yep, the LotR cartoon used rotoscoping. Except it was sort of badly done rotoscoping.

Another movie it was used in was Anastasia. They used it to animate the dancing scenes.
