I'm not sure what the proper way to do this is, but since I despise my drawing abilities, I do a rough sketch, then use the pen tool in PS to create various stroked paths make everything nice and perf ... |

Haven't worked with bones much. I've tried animating somethign when I've got two pieces, (ie. i just mirrored it and atached it, yet didn't weld yet) then It can split sometimes when using bipeds.
