Imagine that the cave is totally black. Now add the light from the entrance and the light from the crystals. The background should still be bright like it is but the foreground should be darker. |

Yeah, lots more tonal contrast especially with her shadow. That would make a huge difference. |

If you made the outline a separate layer you could have just coloured over it with whatever colour. If you didn't then you probably would have to smudge it in but I find that I do that anyway. |
