Have to agree with ballistic on this one. For a beginner, I almost never recommend the (significantly) more expensive Intuos with tilt ... the Graphire is more than adequate for their needs usually.

If cash is an issue get either the 4x5 or 6x8 Graphire from Wacom. he only real thing missing from their more expensive cousin (Intuos) is the extra 512 levels of pressure (512 vs. 1024) and the tilt. ...
